On your Marks for the London Marathon – Simon Lawson, Wheelchair Marathon

London is one of the biggest marathons in the world so there is always a big focus for me and the other athletes coming into London every year, I feel this is even more so this year following the legacy if the London Olympics and Paralympics of 2012.

This year there is a really big field of world class athletes for the wheelchair race, as deep as ever seen before! mainly because of the combined championship between Boston marathon on Monday and London this Sunday so the race is going to be very fast and competitive! I can’t wait to be lined up on the start line on Sunday morning amongst the very best in the world ready to take on the 26.2 miles of London Tarmac and hopefully come away with a good race and a personal best time, all the hard training has been put in over the winter and early season warm up races so now it’s time to see if all the hard work will pay off!

Hopefully everything runs smoothly this weekend following the terrible events that happened in Boston on Monday and athletes, fun runners and spectators all have a great day.
