Supporting 10,000 Athletes: September 2025

Wed 8th Oct 2025

September marked a huge milestone for add-victor as we are proud to now be supporting over 10,000 athletes nationwide, whilst just this month reaching more than 550 student-athletes across 15 workshops. Alongside this, we’ve launched our 2025-26 Club Sponsorship Programme, welcoming 56 clubs in the first 30 days, inducted new team members, and continued to strengthen our presence across the UKs  university sport community.

Pre-Season Sessions Across the Country

The start of the academic year brought with it a busy pre-season schedule. At The University of Birmingham, we delivered sessions for sponsored clubs netball and men’s rugby union, connecting with over 80 students. Soon after, we headed to Loughborough University, where women’s hockey, men’s hockey, and men’s rugby athletes joined us for another 3 workshops for 50 students.

Later in the month, we hosted a netball pre-season session at the University of Nottingham’s David Ross Sports Village, echoing the value of being a student-athlete theme. Across these events, our workshops showed ways in which performance athletes can take their skills developed on the pitch and put them into their academic and professional lives.

Athlete Employability at the Forefront

Helping student-athletes recognise the career value of their sporting journeys was a key theme throughout September. At Birmingham, Loughborough, Brunel, Hertfordshire, and Sheffield, as well as during the Team UCL Leaders Conference and Team Surrey Conference, we explored the qualities that employers value. Every session encouraged students to see their time in sport as more than just competing, but as a foundation for their futures.

Committee and Leadership Training

We also partnered with Student Unions to support committee members and executives in their leadership journeys. At Newcastle University Students’ Union, over 90 committee members joined us in sponsorship training, while at Brunel and Hertfordshire, we led sessions on the value of being a committee member to future employers. Students at Sheffield and Lancaster, engaged in similar training sessions, ensuring that committees across the country are equipped with the skills useful beyond university.

Expanding Our Impact

September wasn’t just about workshops and professional development. We also sponsored more clubs than ever before, and officially passed the incredible milestone of supporting 10,000 athletes. The month also saw the addition of two new Athlete Engagement Coordinators, Georgina Munday and Kelis Barton, who will be important in further developing our athlete relationships across the UK.

Looking ahead, we are also excited to have confirmed the schedule for our annual online BUCS workshop series, kicking off on Tuesday 21st October at 12pm and 6pm. Full details of our monthly sessions can be found here.
